City College Manchester offers education and training courses across Manchester and is one of the ten largest Further Education colleges in the country. Each main centre has a Learning Resource Centre with library service and flexible learning tutoring in a wide variety of subjects. There is an Admissions unit on each of the main sites and an advice and guidance team available for students.

The City of Dublin VEC caters for 11,400 full-time students and attracts some 10,000 enrolments on part-time courses. It also provides specialist educational services to the unemployed, early school leavers and to the prison service. Its educational services are supported by its own Psychological Service and Curriculum Development Unit. The City of Dublin VEC operates from approximately 40 centres in the city and has a staff of approximately 3,000.

Connexions Cheshire & Warrington was one of the first Connexions Partnerships to go live in England as part of the Government's Connexions Strategy. The key objectives of Connexions are to help young people reach their full potential as they progress into adult life, support them in overcoming barriers to learning and employment, and encourage them to stay on in education and training. The needs of young people are very much at the heart of this service. Connexions Cheshire & Warrington covers all districts of Cheshire and Warrington Borough. Service delivery is primarily through a cohort of Personal Advisers who work from 110 schools and colleges and in the community. There are also 8 Connexions Centres throughout Cheshire and in Warrington town centre.
Please note that the former contact, Anne Rutherford, died late last year. She is much missed for her wise counsel on a wide range of issues.

Connexions County Durham provides information, advice, guidance and support on all issues, in order to help young people reach their full potential.
Connexions can provide support on topics such as careers, education, training, health, bullying, relationships and many more, to young people in schools, colleges, training organisations or who are currently unemployed.
They operate a comprehensive client database, and an extensive range of occupational information databases and interactive software packages.

Continuing Education Gateway

Gateway is a public sector, not-for-profit organisation. Established in 1989, it provides a range of support services and materials to underpin the delivery of educational and careers guidance in Scotland.
Used by schools, colleges, Careers Scotland Centres, adult guidance agencies, employers and voluntary organisations, the all-age provision includes: PlanIT Plus: a careers and education online database, incorporating all FT/PT FE & HE provision in Scotland (www.planitplus.net).
Information resources in print or CD-ROM format including Careers in Scotland, Further Education in Scotland, Higher Education in Scotland, Moving On and Job Seeking Skills.
ICT Training and Staff Development: delivering training to guidance practitioners in the effective use and application of ICT. Gateway is Scotland’s only accredited Universities and Colleges Admissions Service web-based application system (ucasapply).
Programming and Web Design: developing and hosting websites for the education and guidance community.

The Workwise - Employment Service was established to support Jersey residents find employment, and offer advice and guidance on all employment issues. The Employment Service offers career guidance and staff are trained on the Morrisby psychometric battery of tests. The Workwise team offer advice and guidance on supported employment issues. A library of publications and interactive CD's are available for loan and staff can support the creation of CV's and advise on interview skills.

'The HEFCE is a non-departmental public body set up under the Further and Higher Education Act 1992. Our primary role is to distribute public funding for teaching and research and related activities in universities and colleges, within the context of the government's policy for higher education. In addition, we advise the Secretary of State for Education and Skills on the funding needs of the higher education sector.

Northamptonshire Chamber is an accredited Chamber within the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) network. It is the single largest representative voice for business in Northamptonshire. Sounding panels and specialist groups, which comprise a cross-section of members, address a variety of issues including finance, tax, transport, planning and environmental protection. Business members are kept up to date with the effect that legislation and regulation may have on their business by a series of seminars and workshops. These are underpinned by a free legal helpline which offers initial advice on business related legal problems and a legal insurance scheme. North Yorkshire TAP builds and maintains a database of learning opportunities available in York and North Yorkshire. The database comprises over 11,000 records representing the work of over 300 organisations. The TAP database is a free service and offers information to the public, via the website: www.learning-matters.co.uk and via the Learning Helpline. The helpline is GAB accredited and offers information and advice on local, regional and national learning opportunities and help to explore funding options, and is available by calling free on 0800 515547. TAP/Learning Helpline is also responsible for the building of Sign-Post Direct, a database of facilities, services and organisations who offer information, advice or guidance about learning and work in York and North Yorkshire.
